Life lately

Saturday, December 14, 2019

I have been back and forth to the hospital the past few days and I haven't been feeling my best self lately. I've been to the emergency room twice and boy I tell you, how lonely it is to be in a hospital bed alone with all those beeping machines and people in pain all over the place. I even witnessed an ambulance coming in with person who just drowned and soaking wet. Anyway, I'm not sure if my condition is due to stress, home-sickness, or change in weather and fatty foods whatever - but don't worry I am recovering. One thing I know for sure -- medical bills are not a joke so everyone please don't take your health for granted! and when I say health, not just your physical well-being but also your mental state.

I don't know how I will celebrate Christmas though. I'd like to be alone but since this island is so laid back everything is closed on that day. Where do I go? I have no plans yet -- what do you think?

Final destination: Halloween party bus

Friday, November 1, 2019 West Bay, Cayman Islands

I've never been on a party bus before EVER - so imagine my excitement when I found out that Star FM is hosting a halloween bus party! There are 4 buses, 4 mystery stops (with games & missions), and 1 exclusive after party! Starting point is at the courtyard across the radio station in George Town and where the bus is going? Nobody knows!

1st stop: Hell, West Bay
Mission: Take a group photo with the devil

I was hoping for the bus to go East for a change but oh well this year they decided to rome around West Bay - my district. First task is to take a group photo with the devil (kinda lame but yeah lol). Nobody gave af about the mission, they just want to drink, dance, and have fun lol.

2nd stop: West Bay Cemetery
Mission: Take a selfie with tombstones

This is kind of eerie for some especially the superstitious ones but since the passengers are tipsy already some didn't mind. For me, I just took a photo by the sign and went back to the bus. I don't want to disturb any souls in there!

3rd stop: Lillie's Night Club
Mission: Get drunk and have fun!

DJ Selecta Renegade saw me and said I looked upset so he offered me a shot of vodka, and I did! Two minutes later, I'm drunk af!

4th stop: The Office Lounge
Mission: Eat all you can buffet

Can I just say that the CI$50 I paid for is absolutely worth it? Recharged here at The Office lounge before the after party.

Final Destination: SKYY-RY Exclusive Afterparty

Danced my ass off and it was lit!

What happened in Miami last year?

Friday, October 25, 2019 South Beach, Miami Beach, FL 33139, USA

It's that time of the month again, Halloween! This day last year I was on an adventure in Miami by myself. I was feeling nostalgic so I rummaged through my old blog and found this post about my trip. Definitely enjoyed my solitude in this one.

This has been a long overdue post but I’d like to share with you some snippets of my short but sweet trip to Miami! I went there alone last Halloween, and stayed mostly in South Beach, at Freehand Miami Hotel. The beach was good but since I dunno how to swim, I wasn’t able to dip in for a long time. Instead, I enjoyed the hotel amenities (it was hippy by the way and very millienial!) and ofcourse did my own photoshoot lol. Did I mention I got a tan? Oh yea

Around mid-day I decided to just enjoy the pool since I couldn’t swim anyway and the waves were rough. I had lunch at their in-house restaurant. You can never take away asian food from an asian!

Eve of Halloween along Ocean drive

I had to go home around 10pm though because I was alone, it was Halloween (people are wearing huge masks like in a heist), and I kept seeing people being arrested lol I was like ohkay that’s my cue!

Along Biscayne Boulevard: American Airlines Arena

Freedom Tower at Miami Dade College

Bayside Marketplace

Saturday nights at Cotton Club

Friday, October 18, 2019 425 Shedden Rd, George Town, Cayman Islands

"Is there anything else you do on Saturdays aside from clubbing?" Short answer is, no! In this small island there is not much of a variety of fun activities to do on weekends apart from beaching so yeah. This is what "Caymanian kids nowadays" do most of the time. What I like about the night life here is that girls wear literally whatever they want without being judged or bodyshamed. As a woman that is one of the most liberating feelings you could possbily feel.

It also keeps my creative juices flowing esp on outfit ideas and accessorizing. In the photo above I was only wearing a gray sports bra and an office skirt - but it turned out not so bad!

Cayman Turtle Centre

Friday, October 11, 2019 Cayman Turtle Centre, 786 Northwest Point Road, West Bay Grand Cayman KY1, 1303, Cayman Islands

Did you know that turtle meat is one of the national delicacies in Cayman? Where I'm from that would be bizarre to hear but interestingly enough it is not in this side of the world. The Cayman Turtle Centre is a conservation facility for turtles and also tourist spot here in West Bay. I've only been there once when I was 13 and never dared to go back until a couple of days ago. I got the urge to go visit due to a number of calls I receive from their Aviary department regarding problems with refrigeration. If you didn't know yet, I work under a contractor for refrigeration so everytime the farm has some problems with their coolers, ACs, or fridge, I arrange for someone to go and fix it for them. Last Sunday was THE perfect day to go visit because the weather was so cooperative; cloudy and wasn't hot at all.

Sorry to say this but the hatchery looks like a scene from a zombie horror film lmao

Cute baby turtles and actual shells from big turtle

And my favorite place in the farm: THE AVIARY. My paradise ❤ Flamigos and scarlets are the most beautiful birds imho

I didn't have that much photos to share because I was too caught up in the moment especially in the pool but hope you enjoyed the little snippets I shared. Til next time ^^

Rub-A-Dub 90's Cooler Fete

Friday, October 4, 2019 Pedro Castle Road, Savannah, KY1-1501, Cayman Islands

I'm not sure if cooler fetes are a thing in Asia but here in the Caribbean it is almost like every outdoor party / event there is. Basically it's a party where you can bring your own drinks and cooler. I've been to cooler fete twice before and it was fun, especially now that I learned how to drink (sush, it's only our secret). Almost everybody I know still thinks I'm a good girl, but ever since I hopped on that flight to this side of the world, I feel like I've been liberated (to be free without regrets, that is). I have no idea at all of the music they played since my exposure is only on the mainstream ones. Dancehall or soca was unkown to me until recently. I still enjoyed nevertheless, the longer I stay here, the more I feel "localized" lol!

Also one of the main reasons why I went is because I wanted to watch Red Rat! I am not a fan and I don't know any of his songs but I vividly remember that one time I visited his mother (she's my daddy's best friend btw) and then I realized he's actually a big name in the music industry in the Caribbean!

The concert was lit. A lot of people came although most of the time I felt outta place because I'm dancing and singing to songs I don't know lol. It was held at Pedro St. James Castle which is in my opinion is your neighborhood haunted house where rebellious kids go and hangout during wee hours.

A weekend in West Bay ironshore

Friday, September 27, 2019 West Bay, Cayman Islands

I am a "bayer" now, that's what they say. Although my daddy was originally from East End, I am spending the rest of my conscious life here on the west side. It is the most populous district on island and "troublemakers" live here. It's not as ugly as you think it is though, there are a lot of good places (especially restaurants!) you can safely hangout with friends in here. It was a lazy day last weekend so I decided to go to ironshore and just chill.

I have been here for more than a year now and to be honest I'm just bored most of the time- that's why I go out as much as I possibly can. I don't really have a "passionate" hobby except from taking photos and diarizing my thoughts and sharing it on the web, but at the same time I am extremely anxious of getting "recognized" or being too public with my personal life. As a matter of fact, I don't have an online presence anymore except this blog and my twitter, in both of which I don't use my real name lol.

But anyway, when I get the chance I'll show you more not only of West Bay or my self portraits, but rather the beauty of the whole island as well. So stay tuned!
